This idea that one is the universe and that one need not do anything can be dangerous. It becomes a trick of the mind, which convinces itself that deep within there is this total order whilst at the same time and inwardly one is confused, frightened, isolated, hurt, fearful and neurotic. The idea of ‘oneness’ that is touted about so willy-nilly on the internet or in spiritual groups has in truth no meaning. It is just superficial sentimental romantic nonsense that creates a delusional hope. It is an illusion of order that the mind has invented (or imported from some guru or a group to which one wishes to belong) when what is real, what is based in truth, is one’s actual disorder. That disorder must be solved first if anything like wholeness, the ‘individual and integrated holon’, is to become an actual reality. There must be inward order if there is to be contact with the cosmos, which in Greek actually means order. No mind projections of ‘oneness’, no shards of glass uniting as one and by this I mean a single unity of neurotic broke up fragmented people coming together in a brotherhood of man. We are describing the spiritual group, identified individuals who huddle together with others of a similar kind and who are not even remotely religious in the true sense of that word.
